Sealed paving on a Perth driveway

MineralProtect · by JUMBOGUARD

Paver sealing in Perth, without the green.

Clay, concrete and stone pavers take a beating in Perth. They go green in the shade, bloom white with efflorescence, and grow weeds through the joints. We clean them back properly, then seal them with MineralProtect: a colourless, breathable seal that sheds water and resists oil and staining, with no film to peel or trap moisture. Registered under a 10-year guarantee.

The problem

What Perth does to your pavers.

Right across Perth and the South West, paving lives outside through hard sun, reticulation overspray and shaded, damp corners. Left unsealed and open-pored, that is exactly the environment that turns pavers green, pushes salt to the surface as a white bloom, and lets weeds take hold in the joints. It is the paved area, driveway to alfresco, that dates the whole home.

Going green

Algae, moss and lichen settle into shaded, damp paving and its pores, spreading a green film that a normal wash will not shift.

Efflorescence

A white, chalky bloom as mineral salt is carried up through the paver and bedding sand by moisture and left on the surface as it dries.

Weeds in the joints

Damp, sandy joints are a seedbed. Weeds and moss root in, lift the jointing and keep the surface looking neglected.

Step one

First, we clean it back properly.

A full professional clean lifts green growth, the efflorescence bloom, grime and weed matter out of the paving and its joints, so the seal bonds to a clean, sound surface. The clean is included. It is preparation, not a separate service. Brand new pavers are left to cure and clear any early efflorescence before we seal.

Step two

Then we re-engineer the surface.

  • Surface engineering, not a coating. MineralProtect re-engineers the surface of the paver so water, oil and dirt behave differently. It bonds into the surface instead of sitting on top as a film.
  • Repels water. Water beads and sheets off instead of soaking into the paver, so the surface dries faster and gives algae far less of the damp it feeds on.
  • Resists oil and staining. Cooking oil, dropped food, leaf tannins and driveway drips sit on top and wash off more easily instead of soaking in and marking.
  • Sheds dirt. Build-up is slower and cleaner comes off with less effort, so the paving is easier to keep on top of between washes.
  • Breathable, no film to peel. The paver is left free to breathe, so moisture is not trapped underneath. There is no acrylic film to cloud, yellow or peel.
  • Colourless, changes nothing. Water-based and non-pigmenting, it does not darken, shift or coat the paver. Clay stays clay red and your concrete or stone colour stays exactly as it is.

The technology

Sealed with MineralProtect.

A water-based mineral sealer that re-engineers the surface of clay, concrete and stone pavers rather than sitting on top as a film or leaving a residue behind. It bonds into the surface, so it is breathable and colourless, applied by certified applicators to a JUMBOGUARD standard and registered under your guarantee.

Why sealing works

The seal, working

The proof is on the surface.

Drag to compare: MineralProtect-sealed paving, dry and wet. Water beads and rolls off instead of soaking in. That is the seal doing its job. The colour does not change, only how the surface behaves.

Questions

Paver sealing, answered.

Will sealing stop my pavers going green?

No sealer makes green impossible, and any that claims to is not being straight with you. What MineralProtect does is change the conditions. It is breathable and colourless, so the surface sheds water off the top and dries out faster, which gives algae far less of the constant damp it feeds on. It also keeps growth from keying deep into the open pores, so what does appear sits on the surface and washes off far more easily. You get green slower, lighter and easier to clear, not never.

Will sealing fix efflorescence, the white bloom on my pavers?

Efflorescence is mineral salt carried up out of the paver and the bedding sand as moisture moves through and evaporates, leaving a white bloom on the surface. We lift the existing bloom in the clean, then seal so water is shed off the top instead of soaking in and driving more salt upward, which reduces the moisture cycle that feeds it. On brand new pavers we let them cure and clear first, because early efflorescence needs to run its course before the surface is sealed.

Does MineralProtect change the colour of my pavers?

No. MineralProtect is colourless and water-based, and it changes nothing. It does not darken, shift or coat the pavers, so clay stays clay red and your concrete or stone colour stays exactly as it is. It re-engineers the surface so water and oil bead up and lift instead of soaking in, and the finish you chose is left alone.

How long does paver sealing last?

Every surface differs with its exposure, traffic and how it is cleaned, so we do not quote a fixed lifespan. As a guide we recommend a light top up roughly every one to three years to keep the repellency at its best. The job itself is registered under a 10-year guarantee on the coating repellency function, issued by JUMBOGUARD and recorded to your job, and that guarantee sits on top of your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
