Sealing concrete pavers · Perth
Concrete pavers, sealed to stay put.
This is our sweet spot. Concrete pavers are cement, and cement is exactly what our coating was built to grip. MineralProtect is the one and only next-generation sol-gel surface coating in Australia, and it bonds into the paver itself, breathable and colourless, so the white bloom, the green film, the oil and the tyre marks stop setting in. Not a film on top waiting to peel.
What goes wrong with paving
Bare pavers drink everything in.
A concrete paver is a porous, thirsty thing. Straight off the pallet it soaks up water, oil and dirt within minutes, and in a Perth summer with reticulation running and cars parked on it, that open surface is where every common paving problem starts. Most pavers come with a cheap acrylic seal from the layer, which buys you a good look for a season and then makes it worse.
The white bloom
Efflorescence
Moisture wicks lime out of the cement, carries it to the face, and it dries as a chalky white haze. It is the paver purging itself. The instant someone lays a film-forming seal over it, that moisture gets trapped and the whitening cures under the coating, where you cannot scrub it off.
The green film
Going green in the shade
Shaded paths and courtyards go green because an open, damp surface is a perfect bed for mould, algae and lichen. Bare pavers hold the water and grime they feed on, so they green up fast, and the growth digs into the pore where a hose won't reach.
The driveway marks
Oil and tyre marks
A dropped-oil spill, a leaking gearbox or a hot tyre on a summer driveway soaks straight into the pore and marks the paver for good. Water-repellent-only sealers wave the water off and let the oil walk right in, so the stain that stays is the one they never stopped.
The seal that came with it
The layer's acrylic
Paving is usually handed over with a budget acrylic seal. It is a film sitting on top, and outdoors it chalks, yellows, blushes milky white and lifts under hot tyres, then has to be stripped back to bare before you can redo it. Each round costs more than the last.
How our coating works
It doesn't sit on the paver. It bonds in.
The category only ever had two ways to seal: a film on top, or a sealer soaked into the pores. Both wear out in Perth and put you on a repeat cycle. MineralProtect is a third way, and concrete is where it is strongest, because cement gives it a genuine chemical grip.
Bonds into the concrete itself
Cement paste and the paver's quartz sand carry reactive silanol groups, and our water-based sol-gel cures into them as a dense inorganic Si-O-Si network right at the surface. That is a real chemical bond into the paver, roughly 90 to 100 nanometres thin, colourless, not a film stuck on the face waiting to lift.
Protects where the wear happens
The protection sits at the surface, exactly where tyres, cleaning, sun and spills land, not buried down the pore out of reach. A pore sealer builds its repellency millimetres down, in the wrong place for how a driveway is actually used, so the face you walk and drive on meets effectively bare stone.
And it still breathes
Because it works at the surface instead of capping the pores, moisture and the lime behind efflorescence can still get out. That is the whole difference: a breathable seal lets the paver purge harmlessly, while a film traps the moisture and turns the bloom into a white haze under the coating.
Where we actually win
Built for how paving gets used.
A driveway is not a lab sample. It gets pressure-washed, driven on, baked under UV, hit with cleaner and dripped on with oil, and every one of those loads acts at the surface. That is exactly where our coating lives, and it is why a pore sealer, with its protection stranded down the pore, cannot keep up.
Cleaning & abrasion
Survives the pressure wash
The dense inorganic network sits right where the brush, the pressure washer and the car tyres act, so it keeps working through the cleaning that wears ordinary sealers off. It fades slowly and predictably, and renews with a top-up on a clean paver rather than a strip.
Chemical
Designed for cleaning, not just water
The bonded inorganic surface stays stable through the alkaline detergents and pressure washing of real maintenance, the same exposure that hydrolyses a pore sealer's anchor and makes it fail from inside. More resistant, not immune, and honest about it.
UV
Won't yellow or chalk
Sun is what breaks most sealers down. Our surface is inorganic, so it does not yellow or chalk the way an organic acrylic film does, and it holds up under the Perth UV that ages other coatings well before their time.
Oil
Oil lifts instead of soaking in
Oil and grease sit on the surface and lift in cleaning instead of soaking into the pore, so a driveway spill or a barbecue drip wipes away rather than setting. A standard water-repellent-only sealer leaves the paver wide open to the exact contaminant that stains it.
The one line that matters: we protect against the real-world use of the paving, cleaning, chemicals, UV and oil, because our protection is at the surface where that use happens. A pore sealer's protection is down the pore, where none of it usefully reaches.
Proven, not promised
One price. One coat. On the record.
We seal paving across Perth metro at one all-in rate, with the coating that bonds into the surface, and we register the result. No itemised extras, no surprise on the day.
- $16 per square metre, all-in. Full preparation clean, MineralProtect applied by certified applicators, and your guarantee registered. The clean is never sold separately.
- Built to survive the cleaning. The bonded surface holds up under the alkaline cleaners and pressure washing that hydrolyse and fail ordinary pore sealers, invisibly, then all at once.
- Independently tested chemistry. The JUMBOGUARD system is tested at independent houses including TÜV Rheinland, SGS, Intertek and to REACH. On glass, GlassProtect is still beading past 3,000 scrub cycles.

Straight about the limits
What sealing won't do.
We would rather tell you the truth before you book than have you expecting magic. Concrete pavers are a great fit for our coating, and here is where the honest line sits.
It won't stop the paver making efflorescence
The lime comes from inside the paver, so no coating stops it forming. What ours does is stay breathable and keep the surface repellent, so the bloom completes and washes off rather than curing under a film. That is the honest, and better, outcome.
It is not stain-proof or maintenance-free
Sealing changes how the surface behaves, it does not switch cleaning off. Dirt still lands and growth still tries. Build-up is slower and washes off far more easily, but you will still hose it down now and then, especially in shade.
The beading fades before the protection does
The visible water-beading eases off before the coating has stopped working, so treat losing the bead as a prompt to book a top-up, not proof of failure. One coat performs for roughly one to three years on trafficked paving, then renews without stripping.
The questions we actually get
Concrete pavers, answered.
Will sealing change the colour of my pavers?
No. MineralProtect is colourless and non-pigmenting. It changes the surface energy of the paver, not the look, so it is the same colour, same finish, same feel. The only difference you see is that water and oil no longer grip. If you specifically want a wet-look or a darker tone, tell us first, because that is a different product and not what we apply as standard.
Will it stop the white efflorescence?
Efflorescence is salt and lime carried out of the paver itself by moisture, so no coating stops it being produced. What our seal does is stay breathable and keep the pore mouths repellent, so the bloom finishes and washes off the surface instead of setting. The worst thing you can do to efflorescing pavers is put a film-forming seal over them, because it traps the moisture and whitens under the coating where you cannot reach it.
My pavers have gone green. Can you still seal them?
Yes, and we clean first, always. Going green is mould, algae and lichen feeding on the moisture and grime a porous open surface holds. We strip that back to a sound, clean paver, then seal. A sealed surface holds less water and grime, so it is slower to green up again and much easier to wash down when it does.
Will it stop oil and tyre marks on the driveway?
On bare pavers, oil and rubber soak into the open pore and mark for good. Sealed with MineralProtect, oil and grease sit on the surface and lift in cleaning instead of soaking in, so a dropped-oil spill or a hot-tyre mark wipes up rather than setting. It is not oil-proof, but it turns a permanent stain into a clean-up job.
How long does it last, and do you have to strip it to redo it?
Two clocks, kept separate on purpose. One coat of MineralProtect performs for roughly one to three years on trafficked paving depending on how hard it is used, and it tops up on a clean surface with no stripping and no cliff-edge failure. The guarantee is a 10-year registered guarantee covering the sealed system performing as described, and it sits on top of your Australian Consumer Law rights.
My pavers already came sealed by the layer. Do I need this?
Most paving is finished with a cheap acrylic seal at handover. That is a film on top, and outdoors in Perth it chalks, whitens, lifts under hot tyres and eventually has to be stripped. If yours is at that stage we strip it back and reseal with a coating that bonds into the surface rather than sitting on it. If your pavers are raw, even better, we seal onto a sound open surface.
Does sealing stop weeds in the joints?
Not directly. Weeds grow in the jointing sand, not the paver face, so sealing the pavers is not a weed treatment. It does keep the paver faces cleaner and easier to maintain, and a well-kept surface is easier to stay on top of. Joint stabilising is a separate job we can talk through when we quote.
