Sealed limestone pool surround in Perth

Limestone sealing in Perth, without changing it.

Perth is hard on limestone. Left bare, it goes white and powdery, greens up in the shade, and the soft surface flakes and crumbles as salt and reticulation water work through it. We clean it back properly and re-engineer the surface with MineralProtect: a water-based, breathable seal that keeps water, salt and stains out without changing the colour or the look. Natural Tamala, poured liquid limestone and reconstituted limestone, all under a 10-year guarantee.

Why it matters in Perth

What Perth does to bare limestone.

Limestone is the local stone, and Perth's coast, sun and hard reticulation water are exactly what it can't stand up to bare. Salt and mineral-laden water soak straight into the soft, open surface, then work back out and leave their mark. Once it's blooming white, flaking or gone green, scrubbing won't bring it back. Here's why it happens, and there's more in our field note on why limestone goes white.

White bloom

Salts carried in by reticulation and groundwater dry on the face as a white, powdery efflorescence.

Flaking & crumbling

Constant wetting and drying breaks down the soft surface, so bare limestone spalls, flakes and sheds grit.

Greening up

Shaded, damp walls and paving grow algae and mould that dig into the open pores.

Staining

Oil, leaf tannins, dirt and spills soak into the pores and set into marks you can't scrub out.

Step one

First, we clean it back properly.

A full professional clean lifts the white salt bloom, algae and staining off the limestone and out of the joints, so the seal bonds to a clean, sound surface. The clean is included. It's preparation, not a separate service, and on limestone it does half the work: you can't seal a surface that's still holding salt and grime.

Step two

Then we re-engineer the surface.

MineralProtect doesn't sit on top as a film and it doesn't wick in as a residue. It re-engineers the surface itself, where wear, cleaning and staining actually happen.

  • Repels water and salt. Water and reticulation beads and sheets off instead of soaking into the limestone and blooming white.
  • Resists oil and staining. Oil, food and grime sit on the surface and lift in cleaning instead of soaking in.
  • Sheds dirt and grime. Build-up is slower, so walls and paving stay cleaner and green up far more slowly.
  • Breathable. The limestone still breathes, so moisture isn't trapped behind the seal, which matters on walls drawing damp and salt from behind.
  • Colourless, changes nothing. Water-based and non-pigmenting: it doesn't darken, coat or shift the stone. No film to peel. The colour you chose stays exactly as it is.

The technology

Sealed with MineralProtect.

A water-based mineral seal that re-engineers the surface of limestone rather than sitting on top as a film or wicking in as a residue. It bonds into the surface instead of sitting on top, stays breathable and colourless, and is applied by certified applicators to a JUMBOGUARD standard, registered under your guarantee.

Pricing & guarantee

One published rate, cleaning included.

Limestone sealing is $16 per square metre, all-in, with a $960 minimum. That covers a full professional clean, the MineralProtect coating and registration under a 10-year guarantee. You get a fixed, confirmed price before you book, with no surprises on the day.

To keep it at its best we recommend a light top-up roughly every one to three years, though every surface differs, so we won't pin a definitive lifespan on it. The guarantee sits on top of your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Questions

Limestone sealing, answered.

Why does my limestone go white and flaky?

Bare limestone is soft and very porous, so it draws in water, salt and reticulation minerals. As that water works back out and dries, it leaves salts on the face that show as a white, powdery bloom, and the constant wetting and drying breaks the surface down until it flakes and crumbles. Sealing it with MineralProtect keeps that water and salt from soaking in, so the surface stays sound and the white bloom has far less to feed on.

Can you seal liquid limestone and reconstituted limestone, or only natural stone?

Yes to all three. MineralProtect works on natural Tamala limestone, poured liquid limestone and reconstituted limestone pavers and cladding. They are all porous, mineral surfaces, which is exactly what it is engineered for. It re-engineers the surface so water beads and rolls off and oil and stains sit on top instead of soaking in, and it does it without changing the colour or the look.

Will sealing change the colour or look of my limestone?

No. MineralProtect is colourless, water-based and non-pigmenting, so your limestone keeps the same colour, texture and finish. There is no film sitting on top, so there is nothing to peel, yellow or go patchy. The only thing that changes is how the surface behaves: water and oil stop gripping it, so spills and grime lift in cleaning instead of soaking in.
