Sealing windows & glazing · Perth
Windows that stay clear.
Perth reticulation throws mineral-heavy water across the glass, the sun bakes it into hard spots, and no amount of scrubbing shifts them. GlassProtect bonds a clear nano layer to the glass so water sheets off with far less dwell, and what does land does not bond, so it wipes away instead of etching in. The hard part is done: keeping the glass clear goes from a razor blade and a bottle of acid to a quick wipe. This is exactly what the coating was built for.
What actually marks your windows
It is not dirt. It is the water.
The stuff that ruins windows in Perth arrives with the sprinklers, not the dust. Most of our reticulation runs on bore water, which is loaded with dissolved minerals. Overspray hits the glass, the sun dries it in minutes, and every cycle leaves a little more behind.
01
Mineral spotting
When a hard-water droplet dries in place it leaves its calcium, magnesium and silica behind as a spot. On a west-facing window in summer that happens fast, and the spots stack up faster than a clean can keep pace with.
02
Baked-on and stubborn
Heat sets those deposits hard. What started as a wipe-off spot turns into a cloudy film that ordinary glass cleaner slides straight over. People reach for cream cleanser and pads, which is where the real damage starts.
03
It ends in etching
Left long enough, hard water does not just sit on the glass, it starts to attack it. That is permanent etching: material loss you cannot clean away, only replace. The spotting is the early warning, and most people miss it.
Why cleaning alone loses: you are fighting the result, not the cause. Every rinse and dry cycle is another chance to spot. Protecting the surface changes what the water can do when it lands.
How it works
A clear layer bonded into the glass.
Glass is one of the few surfaces that carries reactive sites right at its face. GlassProtect condenses a covalent Si-O-Si layer straight onto them, around 75 to 100 nanometres thin, optically clear, and it lowers the surface energy so water, mineral film and oil can no longer grip. It is the one and only next-generation sol-gel surface coating in Australia. Nothing else in the category works on this principle.
It bonds in, it does not sit on
The layer chemically joins the glass surface rather than resting on top as a film. There is nothing to peel, cloud or wear off in a season, and because it is inorganic it does not yellow in the sun the way an organic coating would.
Water sheets off with far less dwell
With the surface energy lowered, droplets bead high and roll off at a low angle, so far less mineral water sits on the glass long enough to dry. Fewer minerals are left behind, and the ones that are do not key in: they sit loosely on the surface and lift with a wipe, where on bare glass they bond on and slowly etch. This is self-cleaning by physics, not by chemistry you have to keep buying.
It protects the glass from etching
Keeping mineral water from dwelling on the surface is what lets GlassProtect resist and delay the permanent etching that hard water would otherwise bond on and slowly eat into untreated glass. Glass is the one surface where we make that prevention claim plainly, because it is the one surface where it holds true. It does not stop physical scratching or every chemical, but it protects glass against the hard-water etching that ruins bare glass for good.
Where the edge lives
Built to survive the real world.
A coating on glass only earns its keep if it holds up to what the glass actually meets: the squeegee, the summer sun, the sprinkler chemistry and the road film. The protection sits right at the face, where all of that happens.
Cleaning & abrasion
Survives the scrub, not just the rinse
The real test is the squeegee, the cloth and the occasional pad, not gentle rain. GlassProtect is still beading after 3,000 wet-scrub cycles in comparable cream-cleanser testing, so it keeps working through the cleaning that wears thinner coatings off in weeks. When it is eventually due, it tops up without stripping.
Chemical
Stable to the cleaners you actually use
The bonded inorganic layer stays put through routine glass cleaners and the alkaline wash a professional window clean uses. It is more resistant, not immune, but it does not hydrolyse and fail from the inside the way a pore-based sealer does under the same exposure.
UV
It will not yellow or chalk
Windows live in full Perth sun. Because the layer is inorganic it carries nothing for UV to break down, so it does not yellow, cloud or chalk the way an organic film does. Far more UV resistant, not UV proof, and that is the whole point of building it from mineral chemistry.
Oil & road film
The greasy film lifts instead of clinging
Windows near roads and driveways pick up an oily traffic film that plain water skates over and leaves behind. GlassProtect repels oil, not just water, so that film sits on the surface and lifts in a normal clean rather than smearing across the glass.
Proven, not promised
Three times more durable.
Durability on glass means one thing: how long the coating keeps shedding water under real cleaning. On that measure GlassProtect is 3 times more durable than the leading brand, and it is still beading well past 3,000 scrub cycles.
- Still beading at 3,000 scrub cycles. Around 3 times slower repellency loss than the leading brand in comparable cream-cleanser abrasion testing.
- Optically clear. The glass looks like clean glass. The coating changes how water behaves, not how the window looks.
- Registered and backed. Every Extera seal is documented under a registered JUMBOGUARD guarantee.
Where we are straight with you
What a glass coating cannot do.
It cannot undo etching that is already there
If hard water has already etched the glass, that is material lost and no coating cleans it back. We seal sound glass to protect it from here on. We do not seal over damage and pretend it is fixed.
You will still clean the windows
This is not maintenance free. It makes cleaning far easier and less frequent, because spots do not bake on and film wipes away, but glass in the weather still needs the occasional wash. It changes the effort, not the existence of it.
The beading fades before the protection does
The visible beading eases off before the barrier does. If water stops beading, treat that as a prompt to re-test on a freshly cleaned patch, not proof the coating has gone. Often the bead returns once the glass is clean.
Questions people ask
Windows, answered.
Will sealed windows still get water spots?
They spot far less. GlassProtect lowers the glass surface energy so water sheets and beads off with far less dwell, so fewer minerals are left behind, and the ones that are do not bond. Spots sit loosely on the surface instead of keying in, so a quick wipe or squeegee clears them, where bare glass would need a razor blade. It is not stain proof, but it changes the everyday result from etched in to a single wipe.
Does sealed glass still need any upkeep?
Yes, and here is the honest version. The hard part is done. GlassProtect turns keeping your glass clear from a job with a razor blade and a bottle of acid into a quick wipe or squeegee, because minerals and soap scum can no longer bond to the surface. Constant hard, bore or reticulation water with no upkeep can still leave spots, on any glass on earth, but on a coated screen those spots wipe away, where on bare glass they bond on and etch in for good. You are not buying glass that never needs a wipe. You are buying glass where a wipe is all it ever takes.
Does it work on bore and reticulation water spotting?
That is the main job in Perth. Bore and reticulation water is high in minerals, so sprinkler overspray dries into hard white spots that the sun sets fast. Hard water still carries those minerals, but on a coated pane the water sheets off with far less dwell, so fewer are left behind, and the deposits that do land do not bond. They rinse and wipe away with a normal clean, where on bare glass they bond on and etch in for good.
Can it fix windows that are already etched or spotted?
No. Once hard water has etched into the glass that is material loss, and no coating cleans it back. We assess the glass first. If it is sound we seal it to protect it from here on. If it is already etched we tell you straight before you spend a cent.
How long does a window coating last?
It is built to survive real cleaning, and it is registered under the JUMBOGUARD guarantee. It wears back slowly rather than failing all at once, and it tops up without stripping when it is eventually due.
Does the coating change how the glass looks?
No. It is a clear nano layer that changes the surface energy, not the appearance. The glass looks like clean glass. What changes is how water, dust and mineral film behave on it.
Does it work on high or facade glazing?
Yes. Facade and upper-storey glass is the hardest and most expensive to clean, so the payoff is bigger there: rain and overspray sheet off and carry loose dust with them, so it stays clearer between cleans.
