Mirrors that wipe clear.

The face of a mirror is glass, and glass is exactly what GlassProtect is built for: the one and only next-generation sol-gel surface coating in Australia. We bond a clear nano layer to the glass so minerals and soap scum can no longer bond to it, and cleaning goes from scrubbing and chemicals to a single wipe. You are not buying a mirror that never needs a wipe. You are buying one where a wipe is all it ever takes. Nothing else on the market works on this principle.

What actually goes wrong

Why the mirror never stays clean.

A bathroom is the worst room in the house for glass. Perth's water is hard, so every splash that dries leaves minerals behind, and every shower loads the air with an oily film. Your mirror doesn't get dirty so much as it gets fed, day after day, and no amount of wiping keeps up.

Hard-water spotting

The spots that dry on

Toothbrush spray, splashes and reticulation overspray on outdoor mirrors dry in place, and the calcium and dissolved silica they carry stay behind as spots. Catch them early and they wipe off. Leave them and the silica spots turn stubborn and cloud the glass.

Oily soap scum

The film you can't buff out

Soap and body oils in the shower air settle on the mirror as a greasy scum. Because it's oily, a plain glass cleaner just smears it around. That's the haze that never quite clears, the streak that comes back an hour later.

Why the fixes fail

Rain repellents wear off

Wipe-on repellents and squeegee habits buy a few weeks. They're water-repellent only, so the oily scum still keys straight in, and the coating scrubs off almost as fast as it went on. You end up back where you started, cleaning harder.

And left long enough it stops being cleanable. Hard water left to dwell on glass slowly etches it, and etched glass is permanent. No cleaner brings it back, only replacement does.

How GlassProtect works

A clear layer, bonded to the glass.

Glass carries reactive silanol groups at its surface, and that's the one material where our chemistry forms a genuine covalent bond. GlassProtect condenses a Si-O-Si network onto those groups and lowers the surface energy, so minerals, scum and lime can no longer grip, and lift with a wipe instead of bonding on. It isn't a film laid on top that can peel. It's part of the glass surface itself.

It bonds in, it doesn't sit on

The coating is a clear nano layer, only tens of nanometres thick, chemically bonded to the glass. There's no film on top to yellow, cloud or lift. The reflection stays exactly as it was, only the surface energy changes.

Water sheets off with far less dwell

The mirror sheds water. Droplets roll off with a low sliding angle instead of clinging and drying in place, so fewer minerals are left behind, and the ones that are do not key in. They sit loosely on the surface instead of bonding to it, so a quick wipe clears them where bare glass would need a razor blade.

It lifts the oily scum too

This is the part rain repellents miss. GlassProtect repels oil, not just water, so the greasy soap film that clouds a bathroom mirror releases in a wipe instead of smearing. The glass wipes clean and stays clear.

The category had two ways to seal. JUMBOGUARD is a third: it anchors into the surface itself.

Where it earns its keep

Built for how you actually clean it.

Protection is only worth anything if it survives real life, and on a mirror real life is cream cleanser, a scrunched-up cloth and daily attack. This is where a bonded surface coating pulls away from anything you wipe on.

Cleaning & abrasion

Survives the scrubbing

The reason wipe-on repellents fail is that the first proper clean takes them off. GlassProtect is still beading above 100 degrees after 3,000 scrub cycles in comparable cream-cleanser testing, so it keeps working through exactly the cleaning that wears others off. When it does eventually fade, it tops up without stripping.

Chemical

Stable to bathroom cleaners

The inorganic Si-O-Si network holds up to the routine glass and bathroom cleaners you'd actually reach for. It's more resistant, not immune: harsh, high-alkaline products used neat and left to sit will shorten its life, so a normal cleaner and a quick wipe is all it ever needs.

UV & clarity

Won't yellow or cloud

Because the coating is inorganic, it has no organic film to oxidise, so it won't yellow or chalk the way a plastic-style coating can. On a mirror by a window or an outdoor mirror in full Perth sun, it stays optically clear. Far more UV-resistant, not UV-proof.

Oil & soap scum

Sheds the greasy film

This is the wedge on a bathroom mirror. Soap scum is an oily deposit, and a water-repellent-only surface still gets wetted and fouled by it. GlassProtect repels oil, not just water, so the scum lifts in a wipe rather than smearing, and the mirror actually comes clean.

Proven, not promised

Still beading at 3,000 scrubs.

The honest test of a glass coating isn't a shiny first week. It's what's left after months of scrubbing. GlassProtect is measured on how much of its water repellency it keeps under the same wet-scrub abrasion that strips ordinary coatings, and it keeps most of it.

  • Still beading above 100 degrees after 3,000 scrub cycles. Roughly 3 times slower repellency loss than the leading brand in comparable cream-cleanser abrasion testing.
  • 3× more durable than the leading brand. A clear, optically neutral nano layer, independently tested at houses including TÜV Rheinland, SGS and Intertek.
  • Fades slowly, not suddenly. No cliff-edge failure and no film to strip. When it eventually eases off, it tops up on clean glass, and every seal is registered under a JUMBOGUARD guarantee.

The honest part

What sealing a mirror can't do.

We seal the glass, and the glass is the front face. A mirror is glass with a thin silver layer on the back, and that backing is where mirrors usually die.

It can't fix a black-edged mirror

If your mirror is going dark or cloudy at the edges, that's the silver backing corroding from behind, usually where moisture has crept in at a raw edge. A coating on the front face can't reverse that, and we'll tell you straight if that's what we're looking at rather than take the job.

The beading fades before the protection

You'll notice the dramatic water roll-off ease off before the coating stops working, that's normal for this class of coating. Loss of beading is a prompt to top up, not proof it has failed. It fades gently over years, not overnight.

On a sound mirror, this is a strong fit. The front glass is the ideal surface for GlassProtect. Where a mirror is already failing from behind, honesty saves you money, and we'll say so.

Straight answers

Mirror sealing questions.

Can you seal a bathroom mirror?

Yes. The face of a mirror is glass, the same silica surface GlassProtect is built for. We bond a clear nano layer to it so minerals and soap scum can no longer bond to the surface, and the mirror clears in a quick wipe instead of a scrub. The one thing we can't fix is a mirror already going black at the edges, because that's the silver backing failing behind the glass, not the front face.

What happens to hard-water spots on a sealed mirror?

You get far less spotting, and what does land does not bond, so it wipes away instead of etching in. On bare glass, hard water scale bonds on and eventually etches the glass for good. On coated glass, it lifts with a quick wipe. GlassProtect also lifts the oily scum a water-repellent-only surface leaves behind. You still wipe the mirror, but far less, and the marks release with a quick wipe or squeegee, where bare glass would need a razor blade.

How long does the coating last on a mirror?

For years, not weeks. GlassProtect is still beading above 100 degrees after 3,000 scrub cycles in comparable cream-cleanser testing, roughly 3 times slower repellency loss than the leading brand. It fades slowly rather than failing all at once, and tops up without stripping. Every seal is registered under a JUMBOGUARD guarantee.

Does the coating change how the mirror looks?

No. GlassProtect is a clear nano layer only tens of nanometres thick, optically clear and colourless, so the reflection is unchanged. All that changes is the surface energy, which is why water and scum stop gripping.

Can a coating stop a mirror from etching?

On glass, it strongly resists it, and this is the one surface where we make an etching claim. Permanent etching happens when hard water and cleaning residue are left to dwell on the glass. GlassProtect resists and delays that hard-water etching by keeping mineral water from dwelling long enough to attack, which is what protects the glass against the permanent etching you can't clean away. It doesn't make the glass immune, and it doesn't stop physical scratching or every chemical, it removes the dwelling that causes the damage.

Does a sealed mirror still need any upkeep?

Yes, and that's the honest promise. The hard part is done: minerals and soap scum can no longer bond to the surface, so keeping the mirror clear goes from a razor blade and a bottle of acid to a quick wipe or squeegee. Constant hard, bore or reticulation water with no upkeep can still leave spots, on any glass on earth, but on a coated mirror those spots wipe away, where on bare glass they bond on and etch in for good. You're not buying glass that never needs a wipe. You're buying glass where a wipe is all it ever takes.

Can I clean a sealed mirror normally?

Yes, and you'll do it less often. A normal glass cleaner and a soft cloth is all it needs. Avoid harsh, high-alkaline products used neat and left to sit, and skip abrasive pads, since those are what shorten any coating's life. A gentle wipe keeps it working for years.
